As introduced earlier, the advent of Nest Cam and Dropcam is said to change the rules of the hardware game. This is a security camera, just plug it into the power, and access WIFI settings, it will be able to work properly. Nest Cam is now on a more crowded stage. Logitech, Netgear, Samsung and most of the other major brands have their own products of the same kind, with all their competitors offering the greatest amount of functionality at the lowest price, of course, I will also mention xiaomi security camera.
But a new challenger approaches! It's Wyze Cam, and it is a bit absurd that it only costs $20. The Wyze Cam has a magnetic pedestal that can be rotated/tilted to point the camera in the desired location, and we can place it on the table; it also comes with a sticky metal plate that pulls out its nonmagnetic dots. Will it be as cost-effective as the popular xiaomi security camera? We will wait and see.
It is understood that the Wyze Cam can alert when motion or sound is detected, and more interestingly, it can also sound an alarm when it hears a loud beeping of a smoke/carbon monoxide detector. Wyze Cam also stores the last 14 days of cloud-based "alert video," which will push 15 seconds of video to the cloud each time it detects motion/sound.
If you want to record continuously, you can paste the microSD card (not included) to the back. The continuous video is stored locally but can be accessed remotely by the application. Worthy of integration, this product also has a built-in microphone/speaker for two-way audio.
Will this $20 HD security camera change the rule of the industry? The answer is not sure. However, Wyeth Laboratory Marketing Director Jessie Zhou is very optimistic about this product, she pointed out that the profits of this product are "very low." But this is just the first step for the company. Wyze Labs wants to make a bunch of different affordable smart home devices. The first product is mainly to help them establish a customer base. It also helps Wyze Labs build its own hardware. It is understood that they are using Xiaomi, a large Chinese company here to design, through their own cloud integration and Android/iOS applications to customize. Xiaomi started selling the camera earlier this year as Xiaofang.
Wyze Lab currently has about 12 people in the team. However, most of the team's people, such as Dave Crosby, creative director, Elana Fishman, e-commerce director and Jessie Zhou, director of marketing, are former Amazon creative directors.
